Haptyk sends anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the app. This data is sent when the app launches, every 5 minutes while running, and when you quit. It includes:
Haptyk does not record, transmit, or store any keystroke content. We never see what you type. The app reads keyboard events solely to trigger sound playback and reads the accelerometer solely to measure typing force. All sound processing happens locally on your Mac. We also never collect:
When you start the 3-day free trial, we ask for your email address and a 6-digit verification code to confirm it. We use this to prevent trial abuse and to match your email with a Lemon Squeezy purchase so your Pro license activates automatically. Your email is stored only on our server alongside a machine fingerprint and is never sold or shared. If you purchase Pro, your email is also associated with the Lemon Squeezy order so we can email you the license key.
If your trial ends and you do not buy Pro, we send you at most three short emails about it over the following ten days: one when the trial ends, one a few days later with answers to common questions, and a last one asking for feedback. Every one of them has a one-click unsubscribe link. We do not run a newsletter, and we stop writing as soon as you buy or unsubscribe.
Your settings and license key are stored locally at ~/Library/Application Support/Haptyk/. Anonymous usage statistics and trial records are stored on a server we control and are never sold or shared with advertisers.
You can delete your account yourself in Haptyk 2.0.3 or later: open Settings, go to Account and click Delete Account. We email you a 6-digit code to confirm it's you, then we delete your email address, your trial record, the usage statistics linked to your Mac, the emails we sent you, any feedback you sent, and the activations of your license. Haptyk then resets itself on your Mac and quits. If no email is linked to Haptyk on your Mac, there is nothing to verify and only the anonymous usage statistics are deleted.
Two things are kept on purpose. If you used the free trial on a Mac, we keep a one-way hash of that Mac's fingerprint so the trial can't be restarted by deleting the account. If you bought Pro, we keep the license key itself with your email removed, so your purchase still works if you enter the key again. Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, keeps its own record of your order for tax purposes.
You can also email oli@haptyk.com with the email address you want removed. No account or form needed, a single message is enough. We confirm the deletion by reply within 30 days, and it is permanent. Deleting your data also ends an active trial.
To remove the data stored locally on your Mac, quit Haptyk and delete the folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Haptyk/.
License key activation is processed by Lemon Squeezy (our payment provider). Trial verification emails are delivered by Resend (our email provider). Their respective privacy policies apply to those transactions. Haptyk itself does not share usage data with any third party.
